New Wines for Spring 2012!

As the sun seems to be reappearing, we’ve got some great new wines online for you to try!

Some new organic wines include a very tasty Barbera d’Asti Superiore Trinchero from North West Italy is a great try at £12.95.

We have a new organic red and white duo; Mont’Albano Grillo and Nero d’Avola at £8.50.

From Germany, there’s the lovely Louis Guntrum Riesling which has the scent and taste of peaches, green apples and juicy pears. Just £9.95!

The biodynamic Knobloch Riesling Kabinett is also well worth trying at £11.50.

Our much anticipated refit is complete!

We love the new look of our store and can’t wait to show you what it looks like!

As well as new lights, a brand new Yankee Candle section and new presentation stands, we’ve also redone our till area with a funky blackboard for all of our latest offers.

So when you come in, make sure you have a look there first…

We’ll be officially “launching” our refit with some fantastic special offers in the coming months as well as some VIP events for you to come in and enjoy shopping in luxury.

New Zealand Wine Tasting, Saturday 12th May!

It’s time for our May Wine Tasting… !

This month we’re staying ‘down-under’ and moving across to the increasingly popular wines of New Zealand. Many of you will be familiar with the rise in popularity of kiwi sauvignon blanc over the last few years…

In fact it has almost become a ‘brand’ in itself as the big chains try and cash in on its achievements. But a lot of it is now mass-produced with high levels of sulphur and additives… (the worst ones are bulk-bottled here in the UK!).

As most of you know, we always try and seek out real, characterful wines from smaller, independent producers that are bottled in the region and also have lower levels of sulphur and chemicals.

We’ll be sampling 4 whites and 2 reds from four different regions across the two islands… all different grape varieties and styles… guaranteed to cheer you up during this very wet spring… (‘tho looks a bit better this w/end..)…

Something to suit all palates I hope!

Remember, in order to spread the wines evenly, they are limited to 2 bottles (of each) max. purchase on the day, but of course will be available (in varying quantity) thereafter. Don’t forget all wines will be 10% off on the day.

Also, as usual, many bin-ends and offers to check-out… ‘genuine discounts’ and not the so-called ’1/2 price’ deals found elsewhere… !

We’ll kick-off around 2pm and end up at 7pm. It’s a ‘free, walk-in’ tasting and a good chance to sample something ‘new’, or perhaps a bit different from your normal choice.

Kovap Tractor Tinplate Models

Ragtangle is offering the superb range of Kovap Model Tractors direct from the Czech Republic but with the benefit of Ragtangle Customer Care service (so no problems with delivery or quality of the tractors or you get your money back).

The tractors are superb!

They are replica models made from tinplate (not plastic, ugh!). They have clockwork motors strong enough for several round circuits of a table and they actually sound like the motor is running – wow! They really are cool.

They are made in darkest Czech Republic by Kovap, a firm that has been producing tinplate models since 1950. The models are of excellent quality and older ones are collector’s items.

They all come in cool retro-style packaging so even the brand new ones look like collectibles!

Spring & Summer Flowers for 2012!

Spring is here and just around the corner is early summer and all the beautiful flowers that summer brings. Soon we will be saying goodbye to tulips and hyacinths and hello to peonies, which are going to make our Brides very happy!

They have a pretty short season so make sure you get some before they go again. A tiny vase beside your bed with a couple of peonies in it is a pretty amazing sight first thing in the morning!

What a lovely way to start the day…

Or maybe a massive vase of the huge coral peonies in your sitting room? Every time you pass it you will marvel at their beauty!

Australian Wine Tasting, Saturday 14th April!

As the weather warms up, it’s time to head to Australia for our next monthly wine tasting!

We’ll have 6 new wines on offer and open to taste. All wines will be 10% off on the day, but as usual we’ll limit 2 bottles (of each) max. purchase on the day.

We’ve also got the fabulous Ferngrove River Cabernet/Merlot on offer at just £7.95 and limited stock. You might remember this as going down really well at one of our wine tastings last year.

Wine Tasting starts in our shop on Saturday 14th April at 2pm and finishes at 7pm.
