Military Looks this Season

August 27th, 2010

militaryAnother big trend this season to emerge is Military style clothes. This year there is a new take on the usual khaki and brown combat style that is still popular, particularly with celebrities like Cheryl Cole. Designers have headed down the more uniform style this season. Navy blue and blacks are popular colours with gold braiding and buttons often used to emphasise the military feel.

Military style jackets are hugely popular this season. These jackets come in a variety of fabrics from leather to velvet and are often short and fitted at the waist. Again blacks, greys and navy blues are the colours of this trend and these jackets are every where! They’re perfect for either wearing out in the evening but equally as appropriate for the office.

We love the military take on this cardigan (left) by The Vestry (www.vestryonline.co.uk) £18.99. Many of the high street shops stock this trend and this piece goes to show that it’s not just jackets military style has been injected into! This season dresses and skirts also have a take on the military trend!

So don’t be without some military fashion this season!

Animal Prints this Autumn

August 24th, 2010

Leopard printAnimal prints are heading to the high street this Autumn. Straight off the catwalk, this trend is set to be huge this season! Leopard print is particularly prominent in this seasons designer collections and it’s no surprise. It’s always been popular but this season animal prints are back to being bang on trend.

Leopard print is all about looking seductive this season and you can find this animal print on pretty much every item of clothing this season, from coats to leggings! But keep it glam by teaming leopard print with black this season.

We particularly love this leopard print dress from The Vestry (www.vestryonline.co.uk) £24.99. It’s perfect for standing out on those nights out! The added diamante detailing adds a bit of sparkle to this bold pattern.

If you’re not brave enough to step out in something as striking as our featured dress then there are plenty of styles which have accents of animal print- less obvious but still bang on trend!

Jeans this Season and How to Wear them

August 16th, 2010

Jeans are every girls best friend and have been forever. In fact, it’s hard to imagine jeans ever being out of fashion! This season is no exception, jeans are back but this autumn they come in a few new styles. Here’s your guide to jeans this season and how to wear them.

rollup jean1. Skinny Roll-Up

This season a new take on the skinny jean is hitting the shops. The roll up skinny adds a bit of detailing to the standard skinny jean. Whilst these jeans are great for all shapes, they’re particularly good for petite women as the roll up shortens the length and prevents swamping. We love this pair from The Vestry(www.vestryonline.co.uk) £14.99.

Kick flare2. Kick Flare

The kick flare is great for every figure but especially pear shapes. The wide legs narrow the hips perfectly. These jeans are from Next (www.next.co.uk) (£40.00). Wedges and a shirt will make this look complete!

Jeggings3. Jeggings

Show off those pins in these super stylish jeggings from ASOS.com(£22.00). They look fabulous and are super comfy. Add some heels and head out- these jeggings are perfect for day and night looks!

So fall in love with your jeans all over again this season or freshen up your look with these new styles for autumn.

Trend for Autumn: Monochromes

August 12th, 2010

Monochrome dressA huge trend heading down the catwalks this season are monochromes. They work well in the period between summer and autumn, a tricky part of the year to dress for. Summer’s coming to an end but it’s not time for those winter warmers yet.

So here’s the perfect solution. Monochromes let you wear black and white, keeping some summer brights but bringing in a hint of the season ahead. More still black and white are fab staple colours because they’re brilliantly versatile. Wear monochromes to the office or out to dinner…it’s that easy!Monochrome bag

This dress (left) from The Vestry (www.vestryonline.com) is perfect for late summer nights and brings a bit of femininity to these monochrome colours with the floral detail and ruffle layers which are bang on trend for the autumn.

Add a touch of monochrome to your look with this bag (right) from Boohoo.com (£12.00). We love the bow detailing, perfect for every occasion.

So be bang on trend this season and grab yourself some monochromes!

Maxi dresses: How to Wear them This Season

July 5th, 2010

Maxi DressThe maxi dress is one of the hottest trends this Summer. Maxi dresses are everywhere, in every style and colour you could possibly want- we love this maxi dress from The Vestry (www.vestryonline.com) £39.99.

But the maxi dress isn’t always the easiest look to pull off. We’ve got some tips to avoid the pitfalls this summer!

1. Length

Getting the length right is crucial. Too long and you’ll be tripping over it and a maxi dress up round your shins doesn’t do anything to flatter. If you’re of shorter build add some height with a pair of fabulous heels or wedges. Don’t be afraid to turn up the hem either- there are plenty of tailors that will do the alterations for you if you’re not confident with a needle!

2. Fit:

The key to making the maxi dress look fabulous is by making sure you choose a fit that will flatter your figure. There are a range of styles and fits and so you need to shop around rather than going with the first one you find. Figure-skimming dresses will flatter you most so steer away from maxi’s with lots of material which will just make you look bigger. Find fits that flatter the parts of your body you’re most confident with- that way attention is drawn away from the areas you want to minimise.

3. Looks: Casual and Formal

Versatility plays a big role in the maxi-dresses popularity. Floral prints and bold colours teemed with an oversized bag and gladiators make a perfect everyday look for day trips or evening garden parties. However, be careful with more formal occasions. Some maxi’s can be dressed up with a pair of heels but for very formal occasions leave the maxi at home.
